Clam diggers

Medium height and a figure that was well-molded except for the dragging left leg that had been attacked by polio on just such a summer day three years ago. Her clam diggers camouflaged her almost to normalcy.

My only consolation was that Sasha’s move inspired me to design a line of travel clothes—plaid clam diggers with a matching plaid circle hat box—which ran in the Spring Previews issue of Katy Keene.

Her small frame, clothed in clam diggers and a plain white tee, added to the illusion Janelle held a girl, not a woman.
